The “MasChere grottagliesi” B&B is settled in the heart of the historic centre-town of Grottaglie. The B&B has an optimal position: in front of it stands the ancient Convent of Santa Chiara which still today is the seat of the enclosed nuns; few metres far from it you will find the chiesa Matrice (the Main Church), a famous collegiate church erected in 11th century and with a minute walk you can reach the worldwide famous quartiere delle ceramiche (the ceramic district). This charming placement will allow you to appreciate more the historical and artistic heritage of Apulia’s town.
“MasChere grottagliesi” is in a small private street, indeed a medieval paved road, far away the daily traffic and so assuring a restful staying. However in less than 100 metres you will find many different and typical restaurants, good pizzerias, snack bars and coffee houses.
Grottaglie town is very well known all over the world as the Ceramic Town because of its severals shops of hand made ceramics, but at the same time it offers a lot of places to visit, inside the town (the Episcopio Castle, the church and home of s. Francesco de Geronimo, presepio of the 16th century and cloister in the church of Madonna del Carmine) and outside the same (gravina of Riggio, Fullonese, manor farms, the Sanctuary of Maria SS. della Mutata).
Only few kilometres far from Grottaglie stand the famous touristic towns of Martina Franca (the “lady”), Francavilla Fontana, Alberobello (city of the trulli, declared human heritage by UNESCO), Locorotondo, Cisternino and in just 20 minutes by car Taranto with its wonderful beaches and crystal sea.
